I have donated a painting entitled 'Summer Magic' for the annual fundraising efforts of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Eastern Region, Women's Networking Session.  All money raised from this painting will be donated to the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario at the Kingston General Hospital.  The draw takes place on Thursday, October 25th, 2012 at the session.
The winner of the painting that I donated last year, 'take time to heal', was Kerry Fox, Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Eastern Regional Office, Kingston.

Update:  The winner of 'Summer Magic' was Martha Ladouceur, Brookside Youth Centre.

Painting at the "Maitland Garden of Hope"

On Monday, July 30th  I accompanied two artist friends, Deborah Glew and Jane Ogborne, to the ‘Maitland Garden of Hope’ a private 1.5 acre garden owned by Colleen O’Connell and David Cybulski.  It is a lovely lush setting and a delight to the eyes especially in this time of drought.  The garden was full of life, busy butterflies, birds and frogs in the pond!

We had the privilege to paint 'en plein air'; a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors.

This was the perfect setting to explore and choose an area to paint in.  Not an easy task as there are a variety of theme gardens and over 2,500 perinnials!
