On Monday, July 30
th I accompanied two artist friends, Deborah Glew and Jane Ogborne, to the ‘Maitland Garden of Hope’ a private 1.5 acre garden owned by Colleen O’Connell and David Cybulski. It is a lovely lush setting and a delight to the eyes especially in this time of drought. The garden was full of life, busy butterflies, birds and frogs in the pond!
We had the privilege to paint 'en plein air'; a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors.
This was the perfect setting to explore and choose an area to paint in. Not an easy task as there are a variety of theme gardens and over 2,500 perinnials!
